What is a capping stack?
A capping stack is a device that is placed on top of a well to stop or redirect the flow of oil and gas in the event of an emergency (blowout).
They are used to prevent divert flow and reduce further damage to the environment and are a key part of well capping. InterMoor, a brand in Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors business line, has developed an innovative shallow water capping stack installation method whereby vessels and equipment may be kept out of the lower explosivity limit or harm’s way. Their split lowering system (SLS) brings many benefits.
